About this tool

Bold text in a word processor is a formatting instruction applied to normal letters. Plain-text fields such as profile bios cannot carry formatting, so a bold button never appears. This tool solves that by switching to different characters: the Mathematical Bold and Sans-Serif Bold letters in Unicode, which are already drawn heavy.

Serif bold looks like a newspaper headline, while sans-serif bold looks cleaner and more modern. Bold digits are included for numbers. The last two results combine bold letters with strikethrough or underline marks, which is useful for deals, edits and emphasis.

How to use the bold text generator

  1. Type the words you want to emphasize.
  2. Choose between serif bold, sans bold, bold italic, bold script or bold fraktur.
  3. Press Copy on your pick.
  4. Paste it into the field, and keep the bold part short so it still looks like emphasis.

Good uses

  • Highlighting a key line in a bio.
  • Making a call to action stand out in a caption.
  • Headings inside plain-text emails or notes.
  • Emphasis in chat apps that do not support markdown.

Compatibility and limits

Heavy styled letters are widely supported. Platforms that provide their own bold formatting, such as Discord markdown or a rich-text editor, are better for accessibility because the text stays real letters. See the Discord tool for that approach.

Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as a bold font?

No. The letters are separate characters that look bold. The platform's own font does not become bold, and the characters may be spoken differently by screen readers.

Can people search for bold text?

Search tools often do not treat styled letters the same as normal ones, so a bold word may not be found by a search for the plain word.

Is there a limit to how much I can make bold?

No fixed limit, but bold across a whole paragraph is hard to read. Use it for a short phrase.
