About this tool
X (formerly Twitter) accepts Unicode in posts, display names and bios, so styled characters pasted from this page work like any other text. The tool shows a count beside each result against the 280-character post limit or the 160-character bio limit, based on commonly documented values. X counts some characters, such as emoji and many non-Latin letters, as more than one, and the rules can change, so rely on the composer's own counter for the final check.
Styled text is useful for one short emphasis, such as a bold-looking keyword or a title. Posts made mostly of Unicode letters are harder to find in search, may be read aloud poorly by screen readers, and can look cluttered, so many people limit it to a few words.
How to use the twitter/x font generator
- Type your post or bio line.

Compatibility and limits
Characters are drawn by the device's fonts, so a style may differ between the app and the website. Counters can treat styled letters as taking more than one unit. Keep a margin below the limit, and use plain text for keywords you want people to find.
Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.
Frequently asked questions
Does X count fancy letters differently?
It may. Some Unicode characters count as more than one unit, so check the composer's counter.
Will fancy text affect search?
It can. Searches generally match plain letters, so styled words may not appear in results.
Can I use fancy text in my handle?
No. Handles accept only letters, numbers and underscores. Use it in the display name or bio.
