Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information GlitchTextGenerator.org (“we”, “the site”) handles when you use the site, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
1. Text you type into the tools
The text generators run in your web browser. The text you type or paste is processed by JavaScript on your own device and is not sent to our servers. To keep your text available when you move between tools, the site saves it in your browser's session storage. Session storage stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab. You can remove your text at any time with the Clear button on each tool.
2. Information you send us
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter. We use them only to read and reply to your message and to deal with the matter you raised. The form sends your message to our email inbox. We do not keep submissions in a database on the site. Messages remain in our email account for as long as needed to handle your request and for ordinary record-keeping, after which they are deleted.
To limit spam, the contact page records a short-lived, scrambled (hashed) identifier derived from your network address and the time of recent submissions, so that we can limit how many messages one connection can send in an hour. These records are kept for up to about an hour and cannot be used to see your actual address.
3. Server logs and technical information
Like almost every website, the servers that deliver this site may automatically record technical information about each request, such as your network (IP) address, browser type, device type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. These logs are kept by our hosting provider, under its own policies, to run and secure the service, and to diagnose problems. We do not use them to identify individual visitors.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
- Session cookie on the contact page. The contact page sets a cookie that is needed to protect the form against cross-site request forgery. It is a strictly necessary cookie, does not track you across sites and expires when you close your browser.
- Session storage. As described above, the tools use your browser's session storage to keep your text for the current tab. It is not a cookie and is not sent to us.
- No advertising or tracking cookies. At the time of this update, the site does not set advertising cookies.
You can control or delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Blocking the contact page's cookie will stop the contact form from working.
5. Analytics
At the time of this update, the site does not use an analytics service on its pages. We may use Google Search Console, a tool that reports how the site appears in Google Search. It works with Google's own search data and does not add tracking to your visits. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy first.
6. Advertising
At the time of this update, the site does not display advertising. If we start showing ads, for example through Google AdSense, this section will be updated to explain the cookies and other technologies involved and the choices available to you before any ads appear.
7. Third-party services
The site is delivered by a web hosting provider, and contact form messages are delivered through an email service. Those providers handle data as needed to provide their services and under their own privacy policies. Pages link to other websites, for example to explain platform rules; we are not responsible for how those sites handle information.
8. Children's privacy
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Data retention and security
We keep contact messages only as long as needed to handle them. The site is intended to be served over HTTPS, and we use reasonable technical measures, such as input validation, output escaping and form protection, to protect the information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to certain uses. Because we hold very little, the main data we may have is a contact message you sent. To make a request, email contact@glitchtextgenerator.org from the address you used and describe what you would like. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
11. International visitors
The site's servers and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. By using the site, you understand that information such as server logs and contact messages may be processed in those countries.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. For significant changes, such as adding analytics or advertising, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
13. Contact
For privacy questions, write to contact@glitchtextgenerator.org or use the contact form.
