About this tool
Zalgo text is named after a horror internet meme, and the look has since become a standard way to write text that appears to be melting, whispering or breaking. Technically it is a long chain of combining marks after each letter. These marks come from three groups: ones that sit above the letter, ones that cross it, and ones that sit below it.
This version starts at a medium-heavy setting. Use the intensity slider for a quick change, or the three mark controls to build a specific shape: for example, many marks above and none below gives a tall flame, while equal marks above and below gives a symmetrical glow. The quick presets underneath show light, medium, heavy and extreme versions of your text side by side.
How to use the zalgo text generator
- Enter a short word or phrase.
- Raise or lower the intensity, and try the quick presets to see the range.
- Use Randomize again until the pattern looks right.
- Copy the main result, then paste it and view it where you plan to use it.

Good uses
- Horror and creepypasta titles.
- Spooky seasonal posts and decorations.
- Fictional corrupted-AI or haunted-signal dialogue.
- Stylized display names, where allowed.
Compatibility and limits
Support varies. Some platforms strip or limit combining marks, some clip tall characters, and some turn heavy Zalgo into a blur. Browsers can also slow down on thousands of stacked marks, so this tool limits the number of marks per letter and the total output. Use the extreme preset sparingly.
Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Zalgo text hard to read?
Each mark overlaps the lines around the letter, so heavy settings hide the word. Keep it light if people must read it.
Does Zalgo text work on all websites?
No. Some sites normalize text and remove many marks. Test a short sample first.
How do I remove Zalgo from text I received?
Many text tools can remove combining marks. Our Zalgo guide explains why and how.
