About this tool
Glitch text is ordinary text with extra combining characters attached to each letter. Combining characters are marks designed to sit on or around the character before them, such as an accent. When many are stacked on one letter, they pile up above and below it and the line looks corrupted. This generator draws from a pool of more than 100 such marks, mostly from the Combining Diacritical Marks block.
The three sliders set the maximum number of marks above, through and below each letter. Intensity moves all three at once. With “Randomize the marks” on, each letter gets a different amount up to your maximum, which looks more natural. The pattern stays the same while you edit and only changes when you press Randomize again. A maximum text length keeps the output safe for your browser.
How to use the glitch text generator
- Type your text. Start with a short word, because glitch text is hard to read in long sentences.
- Set the intensity. Low values (1 to 3) keep letters readable. High values bury them.
- Fine-tune the marks above, through and below. Marks through the middle give a strikethrough or static feel.
- Choose a letter style if you want bold or monospace glitch text, then copy it.

Good uses
- Spooky or broken-signal captions and posters.
- Gaming names and clan banners where Unicode is allowed.
- Horror, hacker and sci-fi themed posts.
- Titles and thumbnails shared as text.
Compatibility and limits
Combining marks stack differently depending on the font, so the same glitch text can look tidy on one device and wild on another. Chat apps and websites sometimes limit stacking or remove extra marks, and very tall glitch text can overlap the lines above and below it. Keep outputs short, and test before posting. The tool caps output length to prevent browser slowdowns.
Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between glitch text and Zalgo text?
They use the same technique. Glitch text here starts with lighter settings so your words stay readable, while the Zalgo generator starts heavier. You can reach either look on either page.
Why does my glitch text look cut off?
The app may limit total characters or trim combining marks. Lower the intensity or use fewer letters.
Can glitch text break websites?
Very tall stacks can overlap nearby content in poorly built layouts. The generator limits its output, but use moderate settings in public places.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser.
