About this tool
Instagram does not let you choose a font, but its text fields accept Unicode characters, so a styled phrase pasted from this page will usually show up as you made it. Every result here shows a live count next to it, set against either the 150-character bio limit or the 2,200-character caption limit. Characters outside basic Latin may use more than one unit in some counters, so a styled line is sometimes closer to the limit than it looks. Instagram can change its limits at any time, so confirm them in the app.
Stylish text works in the bio, the display name field, captions and comments, but not in usernames, which only accept letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Because search on the platform generally matches the plain letters of a name, a fully styled display name may be harder to find. A good compromise is to keep your searchable name in plain text and use styles for a tagline.

Compatibility and limits
Phones and the website draw Unicode with their own fonts, so a style that looks perfect on your phone may show boxes on an older device. Instagram may also display long styled lines differently in the feed preview. Keep one style per element, and view the profile as a visitor to check.
Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use fancy text in my Instagram username?
No. Usernames accept only letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Use fancy text in the name field, bio or captions.
Does fancy text hurt discoverability?
It can. Styled characters differ from plain letters, so searches may not match them. Keep important keywords in plain text.
How do I add line breaks to my bio?
Use the return key in the bio field. Pasted text keeps its line breaks. Our Instagram guide covers this.
