About this tool

Facebook posts and comments are plain-text fields in most places, so there is no bold or italic button. Unicode styles fill that gap: paste the generated text into a post, a Page description, a comment or an event title, and Facebook shows it as the characters you pasted. The twelve styles here are the ones people most often use for posts, headings and short announcements.

There is one important exception. A personal profile name must follow Facebook's name standards, which ask for the name you use in everyday life, and unusual characters can lead to a rejected change or a review. Fancy text is better kept to posts, Page descriptions and other fields, not your account name.

How to use the facebook font generator

  1. Type the line you want to style, such as a post headline.
  2. Pick a style from the 12 results.
  3. Copy it and paste it into your Facebook post, Page intro or comment.
  4. Preview the post. If you see boxes, try a more common style such as bold or italic.

Good uses

  • Eye-catching first lines in a post.
  • Section labels in a long update.
  • Event and group announcements.
  • Page “About” sections that allow plain text.

Compatibility and limits

Facebook on phones and on the website may show different fonts for the same characters, and some mobile apps handle rarer styles poorly. Notification text, emails and link previews are also generated separately and can show boxes even if the post looks fine. Test in the places where people will actually see it.

Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use fancy text as my Facebook name?

It is risky. Facebook asks for the name you use every day and may reject unusual characters. Use it in posts instead.

Why do I see boxes instead of letters?

Your device or app does not have a font for those characters. Switch to a common style such as bold or italic.

Does Facebook have its own bold option?

Some surfaces, such as certain post editors, do. Where a real formatting option exists, it is more reliable and accessible than pasted Unicode.
