About this tool
Some Unicode characters take up space but show nothing, while others have no width at all. This tool lists ten of them with their names and code points and lets you copy any one, in any quantity from 1 to 50. The Hangul Filler (U+3164) and Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) are the two people usually look for, because many apps treat them as visible characters, not whitespace.
Invisible characters have honest uses: spacing a layout, adding a line break point, keeping a blank placeholder, or testing how software handles odd input. They can also be used to hide text or evade rules, which is not what this tool is for. Use them in good faith and follow the rules of the platform you post on. The test area at the bottom shows how many characters you pasted and whether any are visible.
How to use the invisible character generator
- Choose the character you need from the list.
- Set how many copies you want, from 1 to 50.
- Press Copy.
- Paste it into the target field. Use the test area first if you want to check how your browser handles it.
Examples
These characters have no visible shape, so the examples are their names and code points: Hangul Filler U+3164, Braille Pattern Blank U+2800, Zero Width Space U+200B, Word Joiner U+2060.
Good uses
- Adding spacing in a bio where regular spaces are trimmed.
- Inserting invisible line-break points in long strings.
- Testing how an app handles unusual characters.
- Creating blank-looking text for layouts where it is allowed.
Compatibility and limits
Behavior varies a lot. Many apps trim ordinary spaces but keep Hangul Filler or Braille Blank, while other apps detect and reject them, especially for names, usernames and messages. Zero-width characters can also cause surprises in search, copy-and-paste and code. Treat results as a test, not a guarantee.
Text made with Unicode characters can be hard for screen readers to read and may not match searches for the original words. Keep names, links and important details in plain text.
Frequently asked questions
Which invisible character works best?
It depends on the app. Hangul Filler and Braille Blank are most often accepted as blank text. Try one and see.
Are invisible characters safe to use?
They are normal Unicode characters, but they can confuse software and readers, and some services restrict them. Do not use them to mislead people.
Why does the character show as a box?
Your device has no font for it. Try a different character from the list.
